The drying rack is finished
After three weekends of sanding, the rack finally holds forty sheets without sagging. I built it from offcuts that the timber yard on Fennick Row was about to throw away, and it cost less than a tin of ink.
The first run on it was a set of two-colour postcards. Registration drifted by about a millimetre, which nobody but me will notice.
What I would change
The shelves are a little too close together. If you build one, leave room for your hand.
- Space the dowels at 35mm rather than 25mm.
- Wax the runners before the first use.
- Label the shelves, or you will lose track of the order.
A note on the counter script
The sheet counter on this page is a few lines of shell. Run count-sheets --week and it prints the total; the source is in the projects section.
