Three mailboxes, one queue
Fennel and Rye post sourdough kits to four thousand kitchens. Until last spring every question about them landed in one of three private mailboxes.
Two people would answer the same letter, or nobody would. On Mondays the owners spent the morning forwarding mail to each other. The move to chronoskin took one afternoon and a pot of coffee.
What they changed
All three addresses now feed one shared inbox. A letter belongs to whoever opens it first, and everyone else sees a small answering mark beside it.
Rules they wrote on day one
- Anything about a late parcel is tagged delivery and goes to the top.
- A letter that has waited four hours turns amber for the whole team.
- Recipes and praise are answered on Fridays, together, with cake.
What they left alone
They kept their own wording. Saved replies hold the facts, such as the returns address, and each baker writes the greeting.
