  5. Viaduct to reopen

Viaduct to reopen after two-year repair

Trains will cross the valley again from Monday week, two years after storm water undermined the third pier.

Engineers finished the last of the stonework on Tuesday. A test train ran in both directions yesterday and the line was handed back to the operator in the afternoon.

What changes for passengers

The replacement buses stop running on the Sunday night. From Monday the journey to the junction takes eleven minutes again, not forty.

  • First train at 6.12am, last at 11.40pm
  • Two trains an hour on weekdays
  • Season tickets bought for the bus stay valid

Checking your train

Times are on the station boards and by text message: send TRAIN ASHBY to the chronoskin travel line.

Writing a good listing

A listing has about two lines to persuade someone to leave the house. Say what happens, where, and what it costs.

Always include:

  • The day, date and start time
  • The price, or the word "free"
  • A telephone number for questions
