Choosing a box
A box is the right size when the thing inside cannot move and you did not pay to post air. Most shops need three sizes and use one of them nine times in ten.
Measure the product, not the shelf
Add two fingers of padding on every side, then round up to the nearest stock size. Store the result in box_code so the rate table can use it.
- Heavy things go in small boxes
- Fragile things get a box inside a box
- Flat things travel in card envelopes, never in bags
When to reuse a box
Reuse any box that still stands square. Cover every old label before the new one goes on.
