Notes on the record
A harbour is loudest before anyone is awake to hear it. These recordings start at half past four.
How it was recorded
Two small microphones on a rail, a recorder in a dry bag and a week of early mornings. Nothing was added afterwards; the twelve recordings are in the order they were made.
- Stereo pair, about one metre above the water.
- No filtering apart from a gentle cut below 40 Hz.
- Best on headphones, at a low volume.
