Nine miles along a broad grass ridge. Clear paths, one steep pull at the start.
Asked on the valley loop. Four walkers answered, two with wet feet.
Flat, two miles, good with a pushchair.
A short climb through old beech, then a level mile along the top with views over the vale.
Leave at dusk, torches for the way down. The group meets at the lower car park.

Start early. The first tarn is in shade until ten and the last one is best with the sun behind you.
Park at the chapel or take the valley bus to the bridge. The path leaves the lane by a stone stile marked FP 12 and climbs beside the beck. See the list of bus times before you set off.
The cairn sits a little north of the true summit. In mist, follow the wall, not the path.
