  3. The queue

Guide

How the queue decides what plays next, and the keys that steer it.

How the queue works

The queue is a plain list. What you add goes after the current album, not after the current track.

Playing an album puts all of its tracks in the queue in order. Play next places a track directly after the one you hear; Add to queue places it at the end. The queue is saved in the file queue.txt beside your library, so it survives a restart.

Keys

Every key works while the window is in front. They can be changed on the settings page.

The ones worth learning

  • Space plays and pauses.
  • N skips to the next track, P goes back.
  • Q adds the selected track to the queue.
Why is a track marked missing?

Its file was moved or renamed outside the player. Rescan the folder and it is found again.

Does anything leave this computer?

No. The library, the queue and the play counts are plain files beside your music.

Can two libraries be open?

One at a time. Change the music folder in the settings.
