Press notes

The production in its own words, the kit, and the way to a screening.

A walk across a dry sea

The film was shot in order, on foot, with a crew small enough to carry what it needed.

Every morning began with forty minutes of usable light. The camera was loaded the night before and nothing was lit that the sun did not light. The slate for the first shot read SR 001 A.

The valley

No road reaches it. The unit walked in with mules and stayed nine weeks.

What the kit holds

  • Production notes, sixteen pages
  • Twelve stills at full resolution
  • The trailer and two scenes for broadcast
Why film, and why 65 mm?

Because the valley is mostly horizon, and the horizon needs the room.

How much was shot on location?

All of it. There is no studio day in the schedule.

Is there a version with an interval?

No. It runs 127 minutes in one piece.
