Re: Short on the reverse loop

A loop needs both rails gapped at both ends, and the gapped section has to be longer than your longest train with metal wheels or lit coaches. If only one end is gapped the controller sees a dead short the moment the points are set for the return.

Measure the section before you cut anything else. On a 6 metre bus I would also check the feed to the loop comes from the reversing module and not from the main bus.

Re: Short on the reverse loop

Same trouble here last winter. In my case the frog of the entry point was fed from the wrong side of the gap, so it shorted only when the blades were thrown. A meter across the two gaps with the power off will tell you in a minute.

Re: Short on the reverse loop New

Both rails of the loop are gapped now, and the short only shows when a metal-wheeled wagon bridges the second gap. The section is 1.4 metres, the longest train 1.9, so that is the answer. Thank you both.

OO, digital, a loft and not enough evenings.
